A French classic with a New York twist, Murray’s St. Mark’s is a complex, unctuous cheese that’s kept secure in its own miniature red terracotta crock. Simply dive in with a spoon or cracker, or treat it as a personal fondue pot, and top with walnuts, rosemary, or fig jam before popping it into the oven and serving with crusty bread. This silky, spoonable, strong cheese also pairs perfectly with some Raincoast Crisps and Murray's Spiced Cherry Preserves.

“St. Mark’s is the cheese that keeps giving. It’s easily spreadable and you can also bake it in the crock it comes in. I’ll admit, my cabinet is full of ones I’ve kept after finishing the cheese since they’re reusable. I love a savory pairing, and I’ll add a sprig of rosemary and a clove of garlic when I bake mine. Enjoy with a crusty bread, or if you want to add something sweet, try dried cherries.”

  • Uniquely flavorful St. Mark's honors both St. Mark’s Place in its New York home and the French St. Marcellin that inspired it.
  • After a regulatory change kept Murray’s from importing the popular St. Marcellin cheese, we worked to develop a cheese that emulated the French classic and captured its oozy, melty feel. St. Marcellin dates back centuries, originating in the Rhone-Alps region of France.
  • The cheese is customarily made from small, mushroomy discs of cow’s milk–and was even a favorite of King Louis XVI.
  • Like St. Marcellin, St. Mark’s is served in a small crock. Keeping the French spirit alive, Murray imports their serving crocks from Europe.
When you receive your cheese, unpack the order and refrigerate the items. We recommend using the cheese paper we send most of our products in to store the cheese. The cheese paper helps cover the items and stop them from drying out, while also allowing the cheese to breathe. Since cheese is mold, it's a living thing! If you cut off air circulation to the cheese, you can actually cause it to suffocate and spoil at a faster rate.
