Started in Connecticut by Mexican-born Lorenza Arnal, Capitana By Lorenza crafts salsa macha using traditional Mexican recipes.
After moving to the states, cooking Mexican food was Lorenza’s way of reconnecting with her culture and roots.
Salsa macha is traditionally made from varying blends of chiles, oil, nuts, and seeds—Capitana by Lorenza’s are made in small batches using extra virgin olive oil and sometimes dried fruit for added sweetness.
They give a portion of their profits to IXIM, an organization that helps indigenous women in the Tzetzal communities of Chiapas, Mexico.
